Juqueí Beach on the north coast of São Paulo is an exposed beach break that is often working. Autumn (from March to June) and spring (from September to December) are the best time of the year for surfing here.
Works best in offshore winds from the north. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the south and southeast. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights. Good surf at all tide stages, but it is better in the high tide for beginners and low tide for intermediate/advanced surfers.
São Sebastião is the town where Juqueí Beach is located. It's a coastal city surrounded by mountains and the Atlantic forest, and known for its amazing waves and for being the place where the home break of the world-champion Gabriel Medina is located.
Your days will start with a delicious and healthy breakfast with lots of Brazilian local dishes and fresh fruits before heading for the first surfing session of the day.
After surfing, you can have a fantastic meal at Badauê, the best restaurant in Juqueí, where you can savor either local fresh fish or a succulent Brazilian barbecue. At the same time, watch one of the most epic sunsets ever.
You can also rent a bike and ride it to the next beach, explore the shops around while you grab a typical bite or an açaí bowl.
You can even customize your trip, including activities such as stand-up paddling on the river or seawaters, waterfall trekking or yoga sessions.
Culture
Brazilians love a beach day. You will see that the sand will be filled with people sunbathing, playing different beach sports, or just enjoying a cold beer or coconut water by the ocean. Sometimes, even a samba session can take place at the beach by groups of friends. Feel free to join in after being surfed or just enjoy a beach day in the brazilian way.
Juqueí Beach has a small center with different restaurants, bars and store options. Enjoy the evenings getting around the city and tasting a typical Brazilian dish.
Juqueí Surf Girls is a program idealized by me, Beatriz Olivo, for travelers who want to surf in groups or by themselves and get in deep touch with the nature of the region.
I was born in the Southern coastal state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil, and moved to São Paulo in 2003. I am an outdoor enthusiast, graduated in Tourism in 2002 and in Physical Education in 2016. I work with what I love the most: sports and nature. I started working as a yoga teacher and watersports instructor at Juquei beach. Now at 41 years old, married, having raised two kids, I founded this program and I am engaged in local outdoor projects.
I like being in nature, feeling the breeze touching my face throughout the day. Having loved the ocean and water sports my whole life, I remember following my friends down to the seashore when I was 17 years old and, since then, the sea has been my place.
