The surf
Sumatra is an island in Western Indonesia and the islands of Sumatra are an incredible surfing destination with remarkable consistency and quality. A boat trip in Sumatra is a dream come true for any surfer. There are great waves, beautiful scenery, and more great waves.
The area is so packed full of top-quality waves that you will not believe just how good it is. The area is also a major swell magnet.
There are waves for every standard and style of surfing ranging from fast shallow barrelling waves with deep barrels to long cruisey walls with rippable faces.
There are waves in this area year-round, however, the most ideal time to surf this area is March to November, the southern hemisphere winter when the Indian Ocean is an active groundswell producing machine.

The boat
The Crystal Clear is a brand new 22 meter (72 ft) aluminum power catamaran custom built specifically for luxury surf charters launched in 2016. The boat is fully air-conditioned, has a water maker, and is equipped with all modern navigational and safety equipment.
Guest accommodation includes 2 double bed private cabins, 8 single bunks, and 2 double beds, 2 bathrooms/toilets with hot and cold showers. Meaning we have both private and shared berths.
There are three deck levels, guests' accommodation lower hull level, saloon and galley on main deck and bridge deck level, wheelhouse and deck area.

Crystal Clear Charters is skippered by the legendary kiwi “Moose” who was one of the first pioneers of Mentawai Surf Charters. He arrived in Indo in 1987 and explored the Mentawai's in 1990 on a fishing boat. There’s nothing he doesn’t know about the whole Mentawai archipelago- which means you’ll be surfing the best and most uncrowded surf breaks every day of your charter!
