Our surfcamp is called Pleasure Nias Island: the island is known by surfers all around the globe due to its huge rolling waves and overwhelming natural landscapes. It is a true natural paradise located off the west Sumatran coast in the Indian Ocean, Indonesia.
The ‘all-time surfing’ is a popular phrase that can describe surfing on Nias island. Yep, the island lets you surf at any time of the year because the waves keep rolling to the bay non-stop! But, according to the locals, the tides are the highest between May and September.
The annual international surfing competition is held around June and July. So if you want to catch a legendary point break while watching the pros showing off their styles, you can go surfing in Indonesia around those months.
Located in a tropical climate, Nias has quite high humidity. The rainy season starts around October to April, but it can vary. The driest season is around May to September, but you can still expect amazing waves. Pleasure Surfcamp in Nias Island offers a magical experience of back-to-nature that will completely excite everyone.
Our surfcamp is located just in front of the famous wave "The Point" in Lagundry bay, Nias Island-North. So here you can be in front of one of the world's best waves, always ready for the surf. Nias is one of the best surfers' paradises in the world, with very high waves that reach 1-12 feet.
Our entire place has six large private rooms. Any room has a double bed so after a long day of surfing you will sleep very comfortably.
We offer very energic food and transportation service from the airport, so the only thing you will do is surf, surf, and more surf.
Are you coming without equipment? No problem, well, help you to get it. We can provide personal lessons for you. We will teach you how to ride these lovely monsters. While you surf, Frank can make some great shots of you with a pro camera and lens.
If you wanna visit around the or need something, we will help you and go with you. Yes, for free.
Nias Pleasure Surf Camp was started in 1990 by Titus Wau, and now it is managed by his son, Frank Wau, who has continued to help his father to run this surf camp.
This place was a jungle in 1990. Titus Wau bought this land from a local since the tourists were starting to visit the Point break, and he had an idea to build a surf camp for the tourists who wanted to come to this place. The lodge was built with wooden materials, but after the tsunami hit the coast in 2005, the construction was made with concrete.
In 1990, this surf camp was called "Losmen." The name has changed in order to have more of a surf camp vibe, so it started being called "Pleasure Losmen." The name was changed once again and now is called "Pleasure Surfcamp."
