The surf
Lakey Peak is an epic, world-class, intense, and top-to-bottom peak wave. This is the perfect place for those looking to surf different types of waves in the same area. The left waves are longer and the rights, shorter. Both are very hollow, allowing for ample tube time. This surf sport rarely gets flat. Lakey catches all sorts of swells, but gets blown-out each afternoon.
There are waves for every surfing level, from beginners to professional surfers. The best time for surf is between January and July.

Sumbawa is just a quick flight from Bali making Lakey Peak one of the most searched-for destinations by surfers in Indonesia. Indonesian surf legend Dedi Gun, joined the Rip Curl pro rider team at 15 years old and started competing internationally. Today, Dedi offers a world-class surf coaching camp for surfers from all around the world at his home spot, Lakey Peak, where he takes intermediate surfers or professionals on amazing guided surf sessions.
During your time with Dedi you'll gain a better understanding of the water movements and wave types, how to improve your positioning and timing at this break as well as how to use proper breathing techniques to enhance your performance. You'll incorporate stretching and pre-surf warm ups to help avoid injuries, keep your body flexible, and to improve your technique while you’re surfing world-class waves.
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced surfer, you'll work to improve your take off and maneuvers with a coach that will paddle next to you and guide you during your surf session making sure you get the most out of each wave. You'll also be provided with video analysis of your sessions to watch after your surf or before guiding sessions, helping you to visualize and understand how to improve your surf techniques as your coach will explain how to improve your movement from the waves you surfed on the video.

Indonesian surfing legend Dedi Gun first picked up a surfboard at eight years old, a piece of wood about one meter in size. Despite the quality of his craft, he fell in love immediately. Not long after he started working at a restaurant on the beach in front of Lakey Peak, in exchange for free rent, a surfboard and meals.
From there his skills took off, and he quickly became recognised as one of the best surfers in Indonesia.
At 15 years old he joined the Rip Curl team and started competing and was taken under the wing of surfing coach Dustin Humphrey. Now off the competitive circuit, Dedi spends his time surfing at home in Indonesia or in the search to find new and perfect waves. “Surfing has brought me to a lot of different places,” says Dedi. “I’m not a complete person without it. I enjoy the nature of the waves, and seeing new surf spots that have never been. I’m so grateful for surfing.”
