This part of Costa Rica provides huge waves for surfers of any level. Whether you want more challenging waves or just wanna learn how to surf, Tamarindo and its surroundings have a spot for you.
If you are looking for medium or large waves, your best bet will be March (still in the dry season) through August. November is also an excellent month for swells. But if you are looking for more fun/smaller waves and not too many people, September to October is your best option.
Costa Rica’s waters are warm throughout the year (approximately 80 degrees), so travelers do not need to wear a diving suit. However, occasionally, due to the sea wind during the dry season (December to March), the water temperature drops to 70 degrees.
We are an eco-friendly, self-sustained surf camp constructed on a 15,000 square meter patch of a mysterious land, centrally located in the jungle of Tamarindo, approximately 1.5 miles (2,4 km) from the beach. From dormitories to tents to domes, we have it all. So come and experience glamping and camp without having to sacrifice comfort.
Although, while we are a surf and yoga camp on the surface, it's the concept of community that lies at the camp's core. Whether someone stays at Dreamsea Costa Rica for two nights or two weeks, it's the human connection with other travelers that resonates long after departure.
Sustainability/responsibility
From an activity standpoint, we organize beach cleanups and language exchanges and do a local farm excursion to work with the farm staff and help with the animals.
From an accommodation standpoint, we have our Eco-TiPis, where half of the structure stands above ground, while the other half rests below, allowing for a cooler natural temperature within. The water in the unit is naturally heated and then directed right back into the earth after use, embracing permaculture principles.
Dreamsea Costa Rica is an eco-friendly, self-sustained surf camp in the jungles of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We provide a unique opportunity for adventurous travelers to experience the authentic Costa Rican way of life, seamlessly connecting with nature through surfing, yoga, & and glamping.
Our concept of community is what lies at the core of the camp. As a way to give back to our people and as a way to bond with each other, we organize beach cleanups, language exchanges and do some local farm excursions.
Our location allows us to be extremely close to the best waves that Costa Rica has, as Tamarindo is the home of incredible waves 365 days a year. It doesn’t matter where you are in your surfing journey, there’s a wave for you and someone that’ll teach you their tips and tricks.
