Fiji's Mamanuca Islands have some of the world's best waves near each other. The most famous wave in the region is Cloudbreak, known for producing perfect waves, especially at the peak of the high season.
Cloudbreak is consistently ranked as one of the best and/or most challenging waves in the world, so if you consider yourself an expert and have a go-big-or-go-home mantra, then Cloudbreak is for you!
The Manucas Islands archipelago is the definition of the Fijian surfing experience. The geography has been kind, with the SW groundswell marching out of deep water and peeling down perfectly oriented coral reefs.
The trade winds blow side to offshore at most reefs through the peak swell season of May to October.
The Mamanucas are also a year-round surf destination. Although the biggest SW swells come out of the Tasman Sea during the Southern Hemisphere winter months, from June until September, there are often mid-sized swells from the SW around to the SE during the summer months.

The owners, Adam Ziegler and Mike Hennessy, grew up together as best friends in Newport Beach, California. As two grom surfers and avid fishermen, they both had dreamed of living in Fiji one day. After high school, both boys went on their separate ways and adventures but kept in touch.
Adam took a trip to Fiji in 2009. On his very first day, he caught the largest pelagic fish he had ever seen and surfed the best waves of his life at Cloudbreak. He instantly fell in love with the beauty and the people and the amazing waves and fishing. His dream from long before ignited and he decided to look for property and that is when he found this 10,000 sq foot piece overlooking the Pacific Barrier Reef and directly at the Tavarua and Namotu.
He returned home and, with this dream now more alive than ever, he purchased the lot that was to become Vatu Vonu Villa. After 2009 life continued in California, the property and his dream sat waiting for a few years.
In 2013 Adam got word that his old childhood friend Mike who had been living in Hawaii and Costa Rica, was now living part-time in Fiji. Adam asked Mike to join him in developing this amazing property.
Mike and Katie Hennessy, along with their daughter Brisa have been working and living part-time on the island of Namotu. Their daughter is a professional surfer on the Pro Tour and is traveling most of the year with her mother all around the world, surfing and competing. Mike spends most of his time managing Namotu and catching tons of fish and quite a few barrels. Mike is a professional fisherman and you will probably get to see him when you are at the Villa. Ask him to take you out for a few hours fishing as he is known to always come back to the island with plenty of fish.
The stars truly aligned roughly three and a half years after Adam purchased the lot and their childhood dream had finally become a reality. We hope this will be a dream stay for you!
Building in Fiji and especially on an island, has been a humbling and rewarding challenge. From the very first cement block we carried up the hill by hand to the last piece of furniture, it has been quite a crazy adventure.
Come and enjoy our "Vale" and Fiji. It is one of the most beautiful places and people in the world. As they say in Fiji, “Vahewa" low down. It’s Fiji time. Vinaka Vakalevu.
