99% of the time, there is always somewhere to surf. With an NW and SW facing coastline, we are blessed with multiple options, whatever the conditions. The summer months (April – October) see small to medium swells, with surfing taking place on the beaches and reefs on the more exposed northwest coast.
This is a great time for anyone looking for fun, uncrowded warm water surf. During the winter months (October – March), the waves that have made Morocco famous come to life, and world-class surf and leg achingly long rides are an everyday occurrence.
Taghazout Villa is our chic beach guesthouse with a laid-back social vibe. Its communal spaces and family-like atmosphere make it a home away from home for you to sleep, surf, and play. Taghazout Villa has been featured in The Guardian, Huffington Post, The Observer, and The Independent, amongst many other publications. It’s Morocco’s best-known and loved surf accommodation.
Taghazout Villa has 12 cozy bedrooms that come in various sizes – from romantic oceanfront doubles to spacious dorm rooms. All bedrooms come with a private bathroom and stunning sea views.
The Taghazout Villa has several indoor and outdoor areas where you can relax and unwind. Lounge around on comfy seating adorned in Moroccan textiles, in a hammock, or by the open fire.
We have a dedicated host team who are on hand 24/7 to make sure you are looked after.
Surf school
KM14 is an outpost of our surf school, which is located at Devils Rock, a ten-minute drive from Taghazout. From here, we offer private surf lessons, semi-private lessons, and group lessons. Equipment is available to hire, so you can just rock up for a surf. However, we advise you to book lessons in advance as we can get busy. We’ve got a board and suit rack for the safe storage of your kit.
Board rental
The Surf Maroc hire center stocks Torq, Surftech, NSP, and Fahd hand shapes. We have a huge selection of boards to suit all levels and tastes. Single fins, twin fins, thrusters, quads, shortboards, funboards, eggs, fishes, longboards. It’s a perfect opportunity to experience and try out a new shape or use the identical board you have at home without the hassle and burden of transporting it.
Eat & drink
Our chef at Taghazout Villa cooks delicious food made from local seasonal ingredients. Our menus are designed to be hearty and healthy. It’s what you want after a day of surfing. For breakfast and dinner, guests feast together at sharing tables located on the terrace overlooking the surf. Mealtimes are the social hub of the Villa and form a special part of the Surf Maroc experience. We’re able to cater to most dietary requirements, so please just let us know.
Surf Maroc was founded by two friends in 2003 with 5 boards, a few old wetsuits, and even an older transit van. With no master plan, we have grown organically through demand and popularity. Our company was shaped by the desires and needs of ours guests, under the inspiration of those who work here.
We’re obsessed with surf and yoga, but it’s the people who work with us and the people who stay with us that create the special atmosphere that makes Surf Maroc what it is.
Today, Surf Maroc operates a collection of four epic oceanfront locations, each of which was built to provide surf and yoga holidays and run by a professional team of people who are passionate about hospitality. If you stay with us, expect amazing waves, delicious food, great weather (all year round), beautiful accommodation, good people, and good vibes. Our doors are open for everyone.
Sustainability/responsibility
Here we believe in doing good and being good. And that’s what we do every day to help protect and develop our environment and community. We are making strides to make all of our locations sustainable, to support our local community, and to encourage others to do good and be good too. Actions speak louder than words, and when it comes to helping the environment and community, it’s the small actions that make a big difference.
Since the beginning, we've been involved with local initiatives and we partnered with the Surf Rider Foundation in Maroc very early on. We were one of the very first surf business’ to recycle and even then the recycling had to be exported to Spain, as there are no facilities in Morocco to process recycling. We teamed up once a week for local beach cleans and encouraged guests to participate. There are local initiatives now too which Surf Maroc supports and volunteers with. From funding beach cleans and eliminating plastics to supporting local charities and community projects, it’s these small things Surf Maroc does that make a great impact.
Coming here, you become part of our community. And we love when our guests get involved with all the good things we do. That can be as simple as using our Beach Clean Up Kits, coming to our charity Yoga classes, or using our filtered fountains. Every good deed means that together, we can spread the good word and make a difference.
