The surf
Nicaragua enjoys 300 plus days of offshore winds a year, ideal tropical climate and deep-water swells create the perfect conditions for year-round surfing. There are two main seasons, green (May to November) and dry (December to April) with occasional tropical showers throughout the year.
The most consistent and largest water swells hit the coast from March through November. Waves come in fast, averaging from shoulder to overhead on fun surf spots but often reach double overhead or higher at more adventurous breaks. October is an off-season month due to strong onshore winds and frequent heavy rains although the weather gets more fair towards the tail end.
November still sees heavy winds and strong swells, for those who like to brave the elements this is the least crowded tome in Nicaragua as the weather becomes cooler. December to February have stronger offshore winds that create waist to shoulder high surf, the water is also cooler at this time.

The lodge
Located in the North, in a sleepy fishing village, this surfing hotspot offers more than just perfect waves. This majestic paradise overlooks the Pacific Ocean and offers a calming, peaceful atmosphere. Miramar is also graced with opportunities for a variety of adventures.
Blessed with offshore winds, rich with points and beach breaks, Miramar provides waves for all levels of surfers, all year round. During the high surf season, from March to November, swells allow experienced surfers to share the perfect barrel, easily accessed on foot or by boat. It is also an ideal place for those wishing to learn with the peak of a gentle wave at your doorstep.
Sustainability/responsibility
We use solar power here. Every time the village electricity goes out we are the only ones that can enjoy our dinner with solar energy.
Also, we try to be more and more self-sustainable every day. We grow many different herbs, fruits, and vegetables. We have water filter systems to reuse dirty water for other areas of the camp (don't worry, not to drink).

We have surfer and beginner packages available.
Surfer packages include: 3 homemade meals daily, 1 boat trip per day, unlimited water and coffee, roundtrip airport ride and access to skateboard ramp. Prices starting at USD 85.00 per guest per night.
Beginner package include: 3 homemade meals daily, 1 surf lesson per day, surf board, unlimited water and coffee, roundtrip airport ride and access to skateboard ramp. Prices starting at USD 105.00 per guest per night.

We came over from Brazil after selling everything we had, with a dream to open a surf camp in Nicaragua. As with any business it has its ups and downs but we live by the motto "If you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life." The pleasure to have nature as a daily routine is something so grounding. Today we both have our own families that are constantly growing. We love passing on our passion to the next generation.
As lodge owners often do, we wear many hats! We do a little bit of everything to make sure you're happy throughout your adventure with us.
