So you’re in sunny Costa Rica and ready to surf! The lapping waves of Santa Teresa’s pristine beaches await your attention. Our breaks are perfect for beginners and those with more intermediate skills (this region is known as one of Costa Rica's intermediate playgrounds!).

There are only two seasons in Costa Rica: The dry season (October-April) and the Green Season (May-August), which is also known as the wet season. The Green Season is the top time for surfing on the Pacific coast and in Santa Teresa, bringing very reliable SW and NW swells that keep it surfable virtually every day. The low season still ain’t bad, though. It’s just a little less powerful and consistent, though the weather is warmer!

Lucero is located on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the Nicoya Peninsula. The blooming village of Santa Teresa is situated in the middle of Costa Rica’s surfing mecca. What was once just twelve years ago a dirt road and a few small hostels now brimming with international tourists and worldwide wave-chasers! Many who arrived only for a surf vacation in Costa Rica fell in love with the area and decided to stay. These newcomers from around the world, give a trendy international flavor to the local Costa Rican scene, from music and art to bakeries and a wide variety of restaurants.

Our hotel

The hotel has four private rooms, a private home, 1 jungle view apartment, and a small restaurant with a pool. Lucero is built on a hillside in the middle of town just off the main street and within walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants, and the beach! The lowest level is communal with a restaurant for your breakfast, lunch, dinners, surf theory lessons and a pool in front to cool off when it's hot. On the second level, four rooms are looking out over the pool and a cool little garden to hang out in. On top of the hill is the main house with an ocean view. From the backside of the hill, there is also a small private apartment with a jungle view.

All rooms have therapeutic matrasses, AC, ceiling fan, mini-fridge, safe, and a comfortable hammock. Our style is a combination of old Spanish on the outside with white brick walls, Spanish tile on the roofs, and touches from Bali on the inside with finished concrete, beautiful wood, and the finest linen bedding.

Surf Package

With our Surf & Stay you package can enjoy comfortable accommodations close to the beach, with daily breakfast and fun surf lessons included. Our surf package includes 4 surf lessons, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is a rest day but if you feel ambitious you can always add more lessons on the reservation form, you can also add activities or yoga. If your partner is a non-surfer, send us a message and we will give you a discount to use when you make your reservation.
