There are two seasons in Costa Rica: The dry season (October-April) and the Green Season (May-August), The Green season, also known as the wet season, is the top time for surfing on the Pacific coast and Santa Teresa, bringing very reliable SW and W swells that keep it surfable every day. The dry season is still great, though. The waters warm and the waves are less powerful and friendly. All year long you can find spots to either learn to surf or hit the lip.

The lodge

La Posada is located in Playa Carmen, in Santa Teresa. Only a hundred meters from the beach and near the best surfing spots in town. Its strategic location is near everything you need, from markets to pharmacies, restaurants, and most importantly - the beach. Around us, a magical jungle road, waterfalls, beaches, and national parks make our stay magic and our spot the perfect one for nature lovers.

You will have full access to the hostel's common areas during your stay, including billiard and the bar, a lounge atmosphere with videos and music, hammocks, a communal kitchen, and a swimming pool. Here, you will be able to make friends from all over the world and travel in an enjoyable way for the body and mind.

Activities

Choose from surf lessons to yoga sessions, snorkeling at Tortuga Island, horseback riding, exploring our National Parks, bike riding, having a massage, or chill by our swimming pool. Our hostel has all you need so you can enjoy your vacation at your own pace, either by reading a book, learn a new skill, or going on an exploration journey every day.

Courses

From freediving classes to Spanish lessons, we offer various courses so you can make the most of your vacation having fun and learning something new.

Our freediving and apnea courses will take you through the fantastic world of conscious breathing and breath-holding, starting with basic freediving theory and finishing with a complete swimming pool session to practice what you learn (2 to 3 hours approx). We also offer an Open Water Training Program, where you learn techniques to deal with everyday situations you may experience during ocean activities. Professional instructors designed all our courses and each of our guides have international certifications in their specific sector.

If learning a new language or improving your language skills is what you are looking for, join us for our five-day Spanish program, where you will talk with natives, learn new words and discover some of the most natural expressions in Costa Rica.

A once hotel place that would serve as a place to sleep for their guests. We took over La Posada four years ago and transformed it into a vibrant hostel and surf camp. We try to bring new and young energy all the time, focusing mainly on the experience of the guest with the hostel and their cultural experience with the people and Costa Rica. The owners and crew are young adventurous surfers trying to share the Pura Vida lifestyle that only those who visited this part of the world would understand.
