The surf season in El Salvador is from May to October, what we also call the 'wet season' (south hemisphere winter). This is the season with the largest and most consistent swells, an average wave height of 6-12 ft, consistent swells, and cooler temperatures. Local storms are also more common, which means there’s a good potential for rain squalls in the afternoons.

Our summer, or 'dry season, is from November through April and the entire country's coastline, which faces south, is shadowed by northwest swells that originate in the North Pacific. That's considered our off-season, with offshore winds, sunny skies, and consistent surf. From our experience, you still can get fun and middle-size waves (especially in March and April). That is the time of year that the South Pacific is transitioning and we begin to see a marked increase in the size and frequency of storm activity, fueling an uptick in average surf.

Even the slowest months of the year, December and January can offer decent off-season swells. Those are the best months for beginners since it's when we have smaller waves, light winds, bright and sunny days, and cooler evenings and nights.

Miraflores has only 6 rooms, allowing us to focus on our guests' experience and providing them the best service in the region. Right in front of El Cuco, you will be just a few steps from the beach. While with us, you can also enjoy our swimming pool, sundeck, restaurant service, hammocks, massages & high-speed internet - besides access to the best surf breaks in the region.

Activities

Take advantage of our surf lessons and learn a new skill with professional and experienced surf guides. We also provide board rental for those looking for a smoother travel journey on their way to our lodge. Choose from one of our different activities and tours to enjoy days when surfing is not on your list – a fishing trip, a day hike to the volcano, or kayak through the mangroves – all of these are activities you can take with our bilingual guides to experience the culture and nature of El Salvador.

Transfers

For those seeking adventure who want to take full advantage of their stay in El Salvador, we can organize boat trips or even ground transfers to different surf breaks, such as Sunzal, El Zonte, Mizata and K59. All the trips are made in our air-conditioned vehicles with racks on the roof to improve guest’s comfort.
