Taghazout, Morocco is a popular destination for beginner surfers because it is located on the northern tip of Africa. Its climate is inviting and warm and the waves suit all abilities. What’s even better is that the swell arrives right in the middle of Europe’s winter, making Morocco the best winter surf escape for European beginners.

The lodge

Amayour Surf & Yoga camp is situated in the heart of Taghazout, behind the main square. Its location is the most convenient for both Panorama beach, point and hash point. Anchor point is also within walking distance.

Amayour’s rooms all share bathrooms. There are 3 bathrooms situated in the building, one on each floor, with a daily maid service you can be sure of cleanliness.

We have a guest kitchen that travelers may use to cook if not indulging in Amayour’s excellent menu. Meals are communal but catered per person with a pre-sign-up system.

We have 4 double rooms and two quad sharing rooms. All beautifully designed, all beds have duvets and extra blankets in the winter.

Mhand & Shiraz, are a couple who first met in Taghazout back in 2014. Shiraz, originally a DOP camera woman based in London, made the move with Matilda (Shiraz's then 6-year-old daughter) to start Amayour with Mhand, a surf instructor with over ten years of experience teaching along the Atlantic coast. Literally, living the surfing and yoga dream life. Since then, they got married with the arrival of baby Nora.

We got the name from Amayour from M'hand's nickname, which means full moon in Berber. M’hand is a real local from the wild and stunning beaches of Tamri. He knows this coastline like no other.

Starting Amayour Surf in October 2015 and we have been growing this little project ever since, from little seeds to our big trees. With not much more than a vision, lots of hard work and dedication, and a passion for living our surf and yoga lifestyles on the coast, we started our project from the ground up nothing.

Amayour Surf & Yoga is top-rated on Tripadvisor in the Taghazout. We have our beautiful hostel, our yoga retreat house and our surf boutique shop.

Amayour is a hostel that, along with their wonderful team, we are immensely proud to share with you.
