The North Shore of Oahu is the Mecca of Surfing. They call it the 7 Mile Miracle for a reason. Within a few minutes drive, there are about 20 world-class waves of all shapes and sizes.
The North Pacific fires off swell after swell from October through May to the various reefs and beaches. The surf during winter rarely gets below chest high. And best of all, the trade winds are side/offshore, so the surf is nicely groomed all day.
From June through September, the South Pacific sends waves to the south and west side of Oahu. During these months, the North Shore usually has excellent waves for beginners!
Adaptive Surfers Academy is a 5013-c nonprofit organization based in Hawaii. Coach Chris started ASA as a surf team made of international members that train and prepare our adaptive athletes for the next level of surfing and competition. Coach Chris continues to work in the community, training athletes and hosting contests for ASA members to connect and celebrate each other.
ASA was created to provide those who are interested in adaptive surfing with a structured and developmental coaching system for athletes in Hawaii and worldwide!
Some of the training locations in Hawaii have easy accessibility. Beach access chairs and beach access Matt's and wheelchair access. Oahu has quite a few accessible beaches. Some of the lifeguard's storage and beach park centers have beach-accessible wheelchairs. The training sessions are preplanned based on the current swell forecast and future forecast.
All training and practice, learning sessions, and locations that have easy access to an open lifeguard's tower and surf locations that are user-friendly and safe. Our main focus is safety and fun. North Shore Oahu, Hawaii, is a great place for everyone and has many levels of surf and beach parks. We go to locations that will best accommodate our level of training scheduled for the athletes and participants. We have a very strong safety crew and staff.
When seasons change, we also have locations on other sides of the islands. We focus on locations where some of our events are held to. Our mission is to create and maintain an adaptive surfing program for people and athletes who are interested in developing their competitive surf skills. We offer a wide range of activities that build competitive knowledge and skills. From surf coaching, and physical and mental training, to weekly surf meet-ups. You're guaranteed to have a good time while strengthening your competitive skills!
Aloha, My name is Chris Courtois. I am the adaptive surf coach and operator of the Adaptive Surfers Academy.
I started ASA because I want to share the joy that the ocean brings to everybody and anybody. I want everyone to be able to feel the rush of taking off on your first wave and seeing the face of pure stoke you get from a great surf session.
ASA is a surf team made of members that train and prepare our adaptive athletes for the next level of surfing and competition. Good vibes all around!
Mahalo, for all your love and support!
