From June to August, it's Bali's dry season, which means the water temperature can require a short wetsuit if you are a chilly surfer. As the air temperature is directly affected by the surrounding ocean temps, it can be cool at night. Winter is the time of big swells and strong offshore winds for the west coast breaks of Bali. Places like Bingin, Padang Padang or Impossibles are often best during these months.
From September to November is still a great time to surf on Bali’s west coast. There can still be occasional big swells, but there are mostly frequent middle-sized swells. During these months, the winds begin to switch and they tend to blow more from the south or to be lighter. This is a time where surfers can actually surf both sides of the island with light cross-shore winds.
Wet Season
December, January and February are the staples of the rainy season in Bali. Some years this is particularly true and it can rain daily for weeks and weeks. Occasionally there are also intense storms. During this period, the winds blow primarily from the West and this is a time when east coast breaks have offshore winds. There can also be giant swells this time of year, some inspired by typhoons off the northern Australian continent.
March to April is the time of change. Often March is still a month of heavy rains and strong winds out of the West. Swells are usually smaller, though occasional big swells occur. Most of the good sessions are happening at the south and east side breaks. Towards the end of March, you will feel the end of the rainy season and the changing of the wind pattern to the trade winds (SE).
Bandido opened with the idea of creating a fun, familiar and comfy destination in our beloved Island of Gods. We believe genuine Balinese hospitality is about treating our guests as if they were part of our family.
Bandido’s architecture is inspired by Bali’s own natural materials and blends bamboo, recycled wood and local stone, recreating an authentic Balinese environment. Building Bandido has been a cultural and creative journey driven by the desire to create inspirational spaces and experiences in perfect communion with nature.
Surroundings
Bingin and Impossibles are two of Bali’s most popular surf spots. They’re also one of the island’s hidden beaches, obscured by the rugged limestone cliffs on the southwestern Bukit península. We feel very grateful to be located just a short walk from them.
We encourage all of our guests to get out and explore this fantastic area because you didn’t come to Bali to stay inside, did you? That’s not the Bandido’s way. We are surrounded by many delightful cafes and restaurants as well as some of the most incredible shops.
Since the beginning, it has been a passion project for us —a group of friends from the Mediterranean coast—and all those who helped us create this amazing, groovy property where you will discover the true soul of Bali.
Bandido is the carefully designed space that we have dreamed of since we first came to Bali and fell in love with this area. Together we share a simple life by the sea, surfing waves, creating things or simply enjoying life like Bandidos.
